Smoky, Cheesy Popcorn!

As it is #wholegrainweek this week, I've decided it's time to share a whole grain snack with you!

Did you know popcorn is a whole grain? I love having it as a snack as it's will provide fibre, some nutrients and antioxidants as well as being a lower calorie, but higher volume option.

This is one of our favourite movie time snacks to have. It's super quick, but really tasty.


80g air-popped, unsalted or lightly salted popcorn

2-3 tbs savoury yeast flakes (opt for 2 if new to this ingredient)

1 tsp paprika

1 tsp cumin

1/2 tsp chili (can omit if stomach is sensitive, or children won't like)

Optional: 1/2 tsp each of garlic and onion powder


  1. Add all ingredients either into a bowl and mix/crush with a spoon, or use a motar and pestle if you have it to blend the ingredients together evenly. If you don't do this, I find the mixture separates and taste is uneven.

  2. Add the mixture gradually to either the bag or container of popcorn (not a bowl). I typically add 1/4, shake/mix the bag and repeat until all has been added in. If you add it all at once, I often find a lot of popcorn is missed and the mixture settles to the bottom.

  3. You're done! Enjoy!
